It’s often a stealthy process, the utilising of public lavatories. We spend as little time as possible in there; we certainly don’t stop to look in detail at our surroundings. Here, I provide the opportunity to study this baseline of humanity.
Some images contain graffiti, some of it predictable, some of it surprising. Perhaps the images overall – there are 10 examples from the project – touch on the aesthetics of disgust and its own origins in the daily reminders of our own corporeality and, consequently, mortality.
